About Travis.

Men’s Counseling.

Greensboro and Winston-Salem North Carolina.

My Story

I’ll be really honest with you - for most of my life when I looked in the mirror, I did not like what I saw.

I spent years hating how anxious I was, hating how irritated and angry I got about seemingly insignificant things…I even hated how much I hated myself. Pretty meta, right? I may have faked it okay in front of others, but deep down, things were not okay.

And then counseling changed my life.

I gained a better understanding of why I acted the way I did, and was able to find grace and compassion for myself and others. Eventually I discovered this whole other me that was just waiting to come out. I was courageous where I had been afraid, calm where I had been irritated, and compassionate where I had been critical, perfectionistic, and self-loathing.

I want that that life-changing experience for you too. Here’s how we work together:

My Approach

For all the counseling and therapy nerds out there:

I draw primarily from IFS (Internal Family Systems), but also incorporate somatic elements, classic Rogerian talk therapy, and mindfulness.

Real talk:

We work together to understand and heal those parts that you dislike within you, and discover who you really are at your core.

My foundational belief is that there are no ‘bad’ parts within a person.

Stay with me here. All of the parts that you don’t like about yourself - angry, anxious, self-critical parts, etc. - they are all trying to help you the best way they know how. These parts probably served you in the past, but something in you is recognizing that those parts need to be set free from their rigid roles. Once those parts are set free, you can discover who you really are…and it turns out, you’re great.

You have qualities like patience, persistence, perspective, perseverance, and playfulness just waiting to be unearthed.
