Prayer for The Lord is My Rock (Elevation Worship)

Elevation Worship - For the Honor

The last week of our series on Ephesians (entitled Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) was based on Ephesians 6:10-12 (the armor of God).  We knew we wanted to play The Lord is My Rock by Elevation Worship, and one of our pastors, Mary Cartwright, wrote the following: (which served as an introduction to the song, and a short prayer based on Psalm 18)

Today we’re going to be hearing lots of words about strength – God’s strength, our strength – a call to strength.  We’re even going to hear about armor – body armor, protective gear, standing our ground in the faith.  But all of it points to God – we can be strong because of God’s strength. We can find our way because God leads us. We can overcome our fears, because we truth in God.

This next song reminds us of God’s strength – The Lord is my Rock.  As the band begins to play, I’d like to invite you to pray the words on the screen with me:

I love you, O Lord, my strength.

You are my rock.

With you I won’t be afraid.

My hope is sure.

I stand secure.

I love you, O Lord, my strength.

You are my fortress and my deliverer;

You are my God, my rock in whom I take refuge.

My hope is secure.

I stand secure.

I hope that you can use or adapt our prayer for your own community, that it can provide a spark of inspiration for your own service,  and that it can help bring others into an encounter with God.
