Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

Extreme MakeoverWe started a new series at The Open Door on Sunday called Extreme Makeover: Home Edition looking at what Ephesians might have to teach us about who we are, and how we’re called to live together.  It was the first series to launch after the start of our Creative Worship Team.  The team ran with the idea of a series spun off from the popular TV show, and came up with loads of fun ideas for this playful series:

  • A Call To Worship featuring a bull-horn like Ty Pennington uses in the beginning of the show
  • the associate pastor wearing a tool belt and hard hat
  • an altar made of saw horses and plywood
  • Using Big House by Audio Adrenaline as our opening song

It’s fun, and goofy, and admittedly a little embarrassing…but I think it’s healthy for a community to come together with something cheesy every once in a while and remind each other that while we take God seriously, we can laugh at ourselves.

Here was the set-list:

  • Big House – Audio Adrenaline
  • All My Fountains – Chris Tomlin
  • Rich and Poor – Robbie Seay
  • Cornerstone – Hillsong
  • Here is Love – Matt Redman
  • One Foundation – Bob Marley
